UNBRIDLED LIVING EQUINE ASSISTED ANXIETY THERAPY

Our Off the Track Thoroughbreds are sensitive souls and partner with us to help build inner resilience. Our Clydesdales bring strength, gentleness and softness.

Resilience is being able to adapt and be flexible to daily life or difficult experiences. Inner resilience helps us let go of limiting beliefs and negative thought patterns.

Our approach is based on Polyvagal Theory, which provides the framework for understanding our brain and body's response to stress and resulting defensive (fight, flight, and freeze) responses. Our approach focuses on building felt safety and connection to optimise mental health and wellness. We work collaboratively based on your needs and incorporate other evidence-based therapies, including the Safe and Sound Protocol, Rest and Restore Protocol, Biofeedback, or EMDR combined with motivational interviewing, prescribed breathwork, and sensory-motor somatic work, within our equine-assisted therapy work.

We support individuals struggling with mental health, including Stress, Trauma, Anxiety, PTSD, and Depression.  We support physical health challenges, including Autoimmune, FND, or CFS.  We also support ASD, ADHD and Learning Differences.

Our programs are based on Polyvagal Theory and the neurobiology of stress, offering a unique inside-out approach to developing self-awareness and state regulation for enhanced relationships, resilience, and overall wellbeing.

Polyvagal Theory emphasises felt safety and attuned relationships as biological necessities for building resilience for health and wellbeing.

Equine Assisted- Safe & Sound  Therapy

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)- Acoustic vagal nerve therapy is an extension of Dr Porges work in developing the Polyvagal Theory ( Porges, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2007 ) based on over 4 decades of research into physiological processes linked to psychological state and behaviour.  Polyvagal Theory has been embraced by practitioners and leading trauma instructors all around the world. The SSP acoustic vagal nerve activator is a practical application of Polyvagal Theory with the purpose of accessing a physiological state conducive to well-being and homeostasis enabling flexibility in thinking and being.

Sometimes our nervous system needs input to create a deep shift that cannot be achieved via other supportive modalities such as standard therapy, breath work, or meditation. The SSP helps create physiological capacity for improved mental and physical wellness. The SSP is evidence-based to improve regulation, communication and social engagement.

Through the science of neuroplasticity, the SSP resets the brain from anxiety and defense. The brain is better able to focus on human communication, state regulation, connection, and emotional resilience.

The SSP targets the neural platform for embodied safety and down-regulates survival or defensive neural circuits. Equine Assisted- SSP provides a powerful space for change from the inside out.

Porges references the SSP as a portal into the Social Engagement System. The Social Engagement System is an integrated neural network linking cranial nerves for facial expression, listening, and prosodic voice to our heart for physiological states.

This non-invasive intervention involves listening to music that has been electronically modified based on an algorithm developed by Porges to emphasise midrange frequencies and minimise low and high frequencies. The music is either classical or easy-listening vocals.

The SSP is a potent facilitator to listen inwards to inner states. It is via this inner awareness that awareness of others and the ability to connect with others, both human and horse, are enhanced.  When experienced in the presence of horses the shifts are enhanced.

The Equine Assisted- Safe & Sound Method is a life-changing journey.

Equine-Assisted OT

Our experiential program creates new possibilities.

Create lasting change from the bottom up. We integrate neurotechnologies with nature and horses.

Private Sessions/Mental Health Care Plans/NDIS self-managed or Plan Managed accepted.

Equine-assisted therapy and the NDIS.

There’s often confusion between equine-assisted therapy and equine therapy, but only one may be funded under the NDIS.

Equine-assisted therapy: In line with NDIS guidance on animal-assisted therapies, equine-assisted therapy (EAT) must be delivered by a qualified allied health professional as part of a structured, goal-focused program. It uses interactions with horses to support specific therapeutic outcomes linked to a person’s NDIS Plan goals.

Sessions are held at BURRA BRAE FARM- 118 Kelly and Mosses Rd, Korumburra, Victoria.
What to expect: Sessions are held in a barn, arena or the natural environment of a paddock. Being outdoors,
Please wear comfortable clothes and closed shoes
